The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the possibility of assessing the role of infrastructure in economic growth with the use of the KLEMS growth accounting (otherwise called the KLEMS productivity accounting). A theoretical justification is provided for the validity of the adopted procedure – it was found that in light of Jorgenson’s rationale (between others) the KLEMS accounting is quiet fit for this exercise, and it accords with some developments of the mainstream economic theory. Then the methodology and issues related to the extraction of infrastructure data are presented. Finally, a demonstration is provided with some interpretation based on Statistics Poland’s data used and processed in the KLEMS productivity accounting for the Polish economy. It was found that when the proposed methodology is applied to spatial aggregations (i.e. countries and provinces) rather than industries then quite sensible data can be obtained even before the envisaged SNA reform.
